Hello!

I’m Vanessa and I’m an intensive care registered nurse, a nurse educator, and a graduate student at the University of Maine. I work with adult learners who are enrolled in an undergraduate Associate Degree in Nursing program. I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Nursing- Nurse Educator track. My goal as both an educator and a nurse is to provide adequate support and resources for our future nurses, help bridge the gap between education and practice, and increase retention of new nurses. My intention is to do this by combining nursing theory, evidence based practice, and current technology to create a supportive learning environment that fosters growth and transition for student nurses.
When I’m not working as an educator or a bedside nurse, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and exploring the great outdoors in Maine. I like hiking, camping, traveling, and training for triathlons. I’ve recently hiked Mt Katahdin in a blizzard, ran a half marathon in negative temperatures, visited Nashville for the first time, and finished my first Olympic distance triathlon. I am also passionate about legislature that supports safe working conditions for nurses, and I have participated in a few rallies in D.C. to support this cause.
My life at a glance…
